Jonathan Cohen is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School. He completed his residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, and fellowships in gastroenterology at UCLA, and advanced endoscopy at The Wellesley Hospital in Toronto, Canada. Dr. Cohen has been a Clinical Professor of Medicine at NYU School of Medicine since 2006. Dr. Cohen is currently Chairman of the Training Committee of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy [ASGE] and co-Director of the Program for Endoscopic Teachers of the World Endoscopy Organization. He has held leadership roles on numerous ASGE committees and task forces over the past 20 years and is being honored by this national organization with its 2016 Distinguished Service Award. He served as President of the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in 2004. For each of the past 16 years, he has been named to the Castle Connolly Best Doctors list.

Dr. Cohen is a well-known and highly regarded expert in his medical practice area. He has authored numerous articles, and has made many presentations at scientific meetings both in the U.S and abroad. He has edited two textbooks in his field: Successful Training in Endoscopy” and “Comprehensive Atlas of High-Resolution Endoscopy and Narrowband Imaging,” a volume which has been translated into 4 languages and sold worldwide. Dr. Cohen is recognized by his colleagues around the world as an expert on quality indicators in gastroenterology, as well as simulator training and advanced imaging technologies in the early diagnosis of GI cancers. A sought after national and international lecturer, Dr. Cohen has also directed over 50 training courses in his fields of expertise to groups of doctors in many countries and throughout North America.
